Management fees
Kopinor is – as stated in the by-laws – «an association with no independent economic objectives». All collected remuneration is paid out to the rightsholders after deduction of Kopinor’s management fees.
Title specific remuneration
Remuneration paid out to the individual rightsholder is collected from different schemes:
- Public exams
The Norwegian Directorate for Education and Training pays a transactional fee per used work (2024: NOK 493). - Audio books
A management fee of 10 % is deducted from the state compensation. - National Library (Bookshelf)
The management fee which is deducted from the remuneration, is based on Kopinor’s operating expenses in the year of accrual. - Remuneration from Bolk and Skaff
- Remuneration from Bolk for use within the Kopinor licence: The management fee is based on Kopinor’s operating expenses in the year of accrual.
- Remuneration from Bolk for copying outside the scope of the Kopinor licence and from Skaff (on demand publishing): The user pays for the transactional costs.
- Remuneration from abroad
No management fees are deducted.
Non-title specific remuneration
Before payment to the organisations of Norwegian and foreign rightsholders, a management fee is deducted from the remuneration, based on Kopinor’s operating expenses in the year of accrual.
Budget and reporting
The level of administration costs is decided by Kopinor’s Council of Representatives through the annual budget. The final accounts are reported in the Annual report, which also states the operating expenses as a share of the total income.
