• 

  Norwegian Writers for Children and Young Adults

  ounded in 1947, NBU has around 500 members. It works to safeguard the professional and financial interests of Norwegian writers for children and young adults, and to protect and promote Norwegian literature for children and young adults.

• 

  The Norwegian Authors’ Union

  Founded in 1893, the Norwegian Authors’ Union represents authors of literary fiction. It has around 850 members and works to protect and promote Norwegian literature and safeguard the interests of Norwegian authors.

• 

  The Norwegian Dramatists’ Union

  The Norwegian Dramatists’ Union is the professional association for Norwegian playwrights and screenwriters working in theatre, film, television, radio and games. Founded in 1983, it works to safeguard its members’ artistic and financial interests and strengthen copyright.

• 

  The Norwegian Non-Fiction Writers and Translators Association

  NFFO represents authors and translators of non-fiction. With more than 4,800 members, it works to improve conditions for its members, promote high-quality non-fiction and strengthen Norwegian specialist language.

• 

  The Norwegian Revue Writers’ Association

  Founded in 1935, the Norwegian Revue Writers’ Association represents professional revue writers. It works to safeguard its members’ rights and their professional, artistic and financial interests.

• 

  The Norwegian Translators’ Association

  Founded in 1948, the Norwegian Translators’ Association has around 350 members who translate from approximately 50 languages. It works to safeguard translators’ professional and financial interests, raise quality and strengthen the status of the profession, and make translators more visible as creators.

• 

  The Writers’ Union

  The Writers’ Union is a trade union for authors, founded on 28 January 2018. It works to improve authors’ income and working conditions, is affiliated with the Norwegian Confederation of Trade Unions, and is open to authors in all genres.

Music

• 

  nyMusikk’s Composers’ Group

  Established in 1938, nyMusikk is a nationwide organisation and presenter of contemporary music. It promotes radical, experimental and cross-genre music through concerts, festivals and art projects.

• 

  The Norwegian Society of Composers

  Founded in 1917, the Norwegian Society of Composers has more than 400 members. It represents composers and sound artists who work creatively with music and sound as art forms, and promotes good working conditions, artistic freedom and a sustainable ecosystem for new music.

• 

  The Norwegian Society of Composers and Lyricists

  NOPA represents the creators of musical works in all languages and genres. With around 1,650 members, it works to promote Norwegian original music and safeguard its members’ artistic and financial interests.

  The Norwegian Critics’ Association

  Founded in 1998, the Norwegian Critics’ Association has more than 400 members. It represents critics working in literature, visual arts and performing arts, and works to strengthen the quality, independence and professional conditions of criticism.

• 

  The Norwegian Editors’ Association

  Founded in 1950, the Norwegian Editors’ Association has more than 800 members. It represents editors in media organisations that are committed to the Editor’s Declaration and the Code of Ethics for the Norwegian Press. It works to secure the best possible conditions for editors and editor-led media, and to uphold full freedom of information and expression.

  The Norwegian Journalists’ Union

  The Norwegian Journalists’ Union is Norway’s largest trade union for editorial employees, freelancers and journalism students. With nearly 9,000 members, it works for independent journalism and good working conditions.

  Fagpressen – Norway’s association for independent professional media

  Fagpressen represents independent professional media in Norway and works for freedom of expression, press freedom and freedom of information. It promotes the role of independent professional media in bringing insight and depth to public debate, protects editors’ rights and works to uphold the Editor’s Declaration.

  The Norwegian Association of Journals

  The Norwegian Association of Journals works to strengthen the operating conditions and professional expertise of Norwegian journals. It offers courses, seminars and advisory services, organises professional gatherings for editors, and presents the annual Journal of the Year award.

• 

  The Norwegian Media Businesses’ Association

  The Norwegian Media Businesses’ Association is the trade and publishers’ association for Norwegian media companies. It works for freedom of expression, press freedom and freedom of information, and for conditions that support a diverse range of economically sustainable media in Norway.

  The Norwegian Music Publishers’ Association

  Founded in 1936, the Norwegian Music Publishers’ Association represents Norwegian music publishers. It works to promote favourable conditions, build expertise and raise awareness of music publishers’ work. It also presents the Music Publishers Prize and distributes grants on behalf of TONO.

  The Norwegian Publishers Association

  Founded in 1895, the Norwegian Publishers Association is the trade association for publishers. It works to safeguard publishers’ conditions and rights, promote fair agreements, freedom of expression and copyright, and support a diverse range of books in Norway.

  Grafill – the Norwegian Association for Visual Communication

  Grafill is a nationwide association for professionals working in design, illustration and visual communication. With 1,800 members, it works to promote the disciplines, create good working conditions and support professional development and networking.

  The Association of Free Photographers

  Founded in 1974, the Association of Free Photographers is a nationwide organisation for lens-based artists. It works to strengthen its members’ conditions and promote photography as an art form.

• 

  The Association of Norwegian Visual Artists

  The Association of Norwegian Visual Artists is the professional association for visual artists in Norway. It represents more than 3,000 artists, works to strengthen artists’ rights and interests, organises the Autumn Exhibition and publishes the professional journal Billedkunst.

  The Norwegian Association for Arts and Crafts

  The Norwegian Association for Arts and Crafts has more than 1,000 members. It works to strengthen the conditions for arts and crafts practitioners and raise the profile of contemporary material-based art. The association presents exhibitions and publishes the journal Kunsthåndverk.

  Founded in 1894, the Norwegian Association of Photographers is Norway’s largest organisation for professional photographers. It works to strengthen photographers’ conditions, promote the value of professional image services and support professional development in the industry.
